Down Under Your Bottom

Here’s a nice spin on a familiar thing on this blog. It’s the TV listings write up for Bottom, when it first aired on the ABC in Australia, from the Torres News on 18th November 1994. That’s rather later than I would have expected it to reach there.

At first blush, it does look a lot like the others we’ve seen, but the text is a little more fresh.

I don’t normally review reviews, because really, what’s the point? But this one is just lazy, witless writing, masquerading as hip cynicism. There’s something to be said for trying to find merit in something that initially seems meritless to you. Why not comment on the gorgeous set design, or the wonderful homages to Jaques Tati? Or even take a moment to say its nice to see Rik back on his feet after his accident?

And here’s a review of two script books, from Thurunka on 15th March 1994. The country got to read the scripts before they got to see their Bottom.
