Cannon And Ball On Comic Relief

Some things are just incongruous. Such as this appearance of Cannon & Ball on the 1988 Comic Relief.

I don’t know why I can never enjoy these two, and I can’t help thinking this might be funny in better hands.

This is the opening titles and the first sketch from their ITV series.

What’s with the golf?

The duo got their first decent TV break in some sketches they filmed for Bruce Forsyth’s Big Night for LWT in 1978. Most of those sketches were cut, but Michael Grade saw them and commissoned a series for the pair.

Here’s one of those shows they were excised from.

After The Cannon And Balls Show ended in 1988, they went on, inevitably, to host a game show called Casino.
