The Grass Is Always Greener

Back in the nineties (sigh, yes), there was a lot more narrative comedy on TV, and a lot less stand up comedy. Things seem to have switched now, but I did like to enjoy finding stand up shows hidden in the schedules. The Stand Up Show on the BBC for example, or its predecessor Paramount City. Channel Five often had late night offerings (before the baseball) of The Comedy Store, but my favourite was The Comedy Network (which later found its way on to The Paramount Comedy Channel), partly because it was hosted by Boothby Graffoe, and partly because it had some great acts on it.

It’s this routine from Stewart Lee that sticks with me most though, because you know, things used to be better then.
