Television Parts ft. Spitting Image

Michael Nesmith, of The Monkees fame, had a TV show on NBC in 1985 called Television Parts. It was a variety show featuring music videos and comedy sketches, all shot on film, and gave rise to, among other things, It’s Garry Shandling’s Show (see more here).

Here, he introduces a segment that was directed by his former band-mate Micky Dolenz, who was then living in the UK and directing comedy shows. You might recognise this one.

Clearly shot specially for the US show, it’s on film, and has a laugh track. The puppets look especially good on film, don’t they?
