Exteriors were shot at the real-life Warners camp in Dovercourt.

Interesting to me at least, is that the listings either side of Hi-De-Hi! in The Radio Times Guide To TV Comedy are Hi There!, a Benny Hill vehicle, and Bill Hicks.
