Just One Question #4

Today’s question was asked of Sibel Hodge.

Q: Have you ever fallen in love with one of your characters?

Sibel Hodge: Hmm, that’s a tricky one. Maybe I shouldn’t answer for fear I might incriminate myself. It’s funny you should say that, though, because one of my friends just read Fourteen Days Later and said she was in love with the lead male! My husband and his friends are always arguing over who he’s based on.

For me, it’s probably not a case of “fallen in love with”, but there’s definitely a corrrrrr factor there. The good thing about creating characters is you can invent anyone you want – even the perfect man! All my lead males aren’t perfect, though. You can only push fiction so far! But they do have qualities I think are important in a guy – sense of humor, capable, caring, etc (sorry, no wimpy men allowed in my novels! No offence to wimpy men).

If only the “perfect man” existed in real life!
