The Dukes Of Hazzard Was Based On A Movie

It feels like this is something I should have known. The Dukes Of Hazzard, the popular CBS show that ran for seven seasons, was based on the 1975 movie Moonrunners.

Moonrunners was written and directed by Gy Waldron, who four years later teamed up with Jerry Rushing to adapt the idea for the small screen.

Many elements remained, including the voiceovers of Waylon Jennings, The Boar’s Nest, and the car chases. In the film the car is called Traveller, which was the name of General Lee’s horse.
