Something Wilder

During my research for the episode of Comedy Is … that’s about Newsradio, I came across the Gene Wilder sitcom vehicle Something Wilder. I’m not surprised I hadn’t heard of it, because it only lasted a few months, but you may have been aware of it. Here’s the opening titles.

As you can see the series was created by Lee Kalcheim & Barnet Kellman, and aired on NBC. Test audiences reacted badly to the casting of the pilot, and so the show was put back a few weeks to be re-tooled, and finally appeared on Saturdays, before being moved to Tuesdays.

It may be best known for its episode featuring Alice Cooper.
