Sitcom Advent Calendar Day Thirteen

Fresh from his success as Selwyn Froggit in Oh No – It’s Selwyn Froggit, and the sequel Selwyn, Bill Maynard was cast in the lead role of Yorkshire Television’s The Gaffer.

Originally conceived as a Radio Four series, Graham White wrote it when he too was the managing director of his own firm. Apparently writer and star came to loggerheads over the actor’s changing of written lines, and the series abruptly ended.
