Sitcom Advent Calendar Day One

Well, it’s that time of year again, so let’s trawl the world of sitcoms for some nuggets and gems of wonder. How many of them have you seen?

Let’s start with The Lenny Henry Show, or as Delbert might prefer to call it, The Delbert Wilkins Show.

After the first series of his sketch show, Henry returned with a completely re-worked format, choosing instead to devote the whole half hour to Delbert, a London pirate radio DJ with a penchant for anything ‘crucial’. The show ran in this format for two series from October 1987 to Nov 1998.

The show was well-watched and well-received, so inevitably, Delbert and his sidekick Winston wound up in an advertising campaign.
