Wogan Says ‘Allo ‘Allo

I could have sworn we’d looked at this before, but it turns out we haven’t. It’s labelled as 1985 but that would have made it a Sunday, so this must be from 1986, which also tallies with the dates of the ‘Allo ‘Allo live show.

With his customary savoirfaire the chat-show host par excellence introduces a Gallic flavour to tonight’s edition en plein air.

Now, this raises two questions.

Is this apearance canon? If so, that means these characters survive the war, and live their lives without ageing. They also have a strange knowledge of British popular culture.

Second, is this Wogan French Special one of the inspirations for this?

He’s even growing his moustache at this point.
