Conan In The Office

I enjoy stumbling across bonus footage of shows that I have watched the snot out of, so this was a fun watch. It makes me wish I had thousands of hours of off air footage myself to scour through for gems.

So annoying that the audience laugh over Micheal’s great opening line in The Office. But check out Hugh’s final gesture before it cuts away. Perfect.

This was the opening to the 58th annual Emmy Awards, and aired the same night of a real plane crash. One NBC affiliate even ran a Breaking News scroll about that crash over the sketch. The timing was unfortunate, and some critics argued the sketch could have been cut (it could have, and maybe just cutting straight to the beach after Conan says ‘what could possibly go wrong?’ would have been funnier).

The Office won Outstanding Comedy Series that night.
