e.phemera: Jason Alexander’s McDLT Advert

If you’re a regular reader of this blog, you’ll know how much I enjoy sharing little pieces of lost ephemera I find on the web, especially if they have some tenuous link to great comedy, game shows, or board games (preferably all three).

Not this time. I don’t want to share this with you. In fact, I’d rather not subject you to it, but it exists, it’s a thing that was made, and it’s hideous. Not in the so hideous it’s good way that people justify watching bad things, it’s just bad.

I mean, it’s just … I don’t … what?

It’s not even a parody. It’s an actual thing.

Let’s get rid of that foul taste in our mouths with this:

George is getting upset

  1. I remember the McDLT craze very well. I even have a vague memory of those commercials. The ’80s was a magical time in America!
When I showed it to my wife she wondered why they would have cast a short, chubby, balding man as the lead. This started me thinking and led me into an uncomfortable realization: the type they were trying to emulate was that of the most popular character on tv at the time. That character was David Addison.
Jason Alexander was, for a short time, the tv commercial version of Bruce Willis!
