That’s The Beauty Of Ads

Every time, without fail, when I revisit adverts from the late 1970s and 1980s, they terrify me. The audio is always so ominous, the lighting is always so stark, and the voice overs are always so menacing. And yet, some of the slogans are enduring.

Cook, cook, cookability, that’s the beauty of gas.

The jingle was written by Roger Greenaway.

And here’s (brace yourself) Noel Edmonds flogging you an oven, and managing to make it feel all a bit creepy.

Imagine being approached at a disco by a bearded oven flogger?

Anyway, this one puts me on edge too.

How can a shot of orange juice make me nervous??
