I’m sorry to keep on about Bottoms, but have a look at this deleted scene from the series one Fluff collection. There’s something rather interesting about it.
And it’s not that Eddie felt the need to pack a ladle for his rooftop excursion.
You can see that the scene was probably cut for time, and that it didn’t quite get the reaction from the audience that meant it could stay.
But here’s the thing.
This cut scene is not in the script.
Or at least, it’s not in the Bottom: The Scripts book. As I’ve said before, I don’t know what drafts of the scripts were published within this tome, but they’re not transcripts for sure. So the deleted scene above must have been found in the week of rehearsals. Maybe they felt they were running short.
On the page, the scene begins exactly as it appeared in the final cut.
