Here’s an early mention of Video Arts, the production company co-founded by John Cleese, that has made a myriad of training videos, all starring names and faces from TV comedy through the years.
By 1975, the BBC had bought a dozen of these training films, and broadcast them as The Selling Line.
The Selling Line aired on BBC Two, beginning on Monday 6th October 1975. But they didn’t air a dozen, they aired ten.
Over on the Video Arts YouTube channel, they’ve uploaded a series of retrospectives, which give us an idea of just who popped up in these things.
The ones for the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s are on the channel.
